Influence of the marine engine load diagram characteristics on the ship propulsion system performance

In this study two four-stroke marine diesel engines, characterized by very similar nominal power and speed, but with different trend of the lint curve specific fuel consumption contours in engine load diagram, are compared simulation, using each them as an alternative to other engine, for motorization a conventional (mechanical) propulsion plant small cruise ship. It is thus possible determine compare efficiencies engines vessel system overall performance ship speeds. The results comparisons presented discussed paper.
